Crowns/Bridges

Crowns/Bridges

Crowns

A crown is one of the most effective and versatile dental treatments. They are used to restore the strength, function, and beauty of a damaged tooth. For example, when a tooth has sustained a large enough cavity, much of it’s strength is lost due to the void that was created and the tooth becomes too fragile for daily use. Instead of a total extraction of the tooth, a crown can be placed over it, offering superior strength and protection to the tooth, while also restoring the beauty and natural look of your smile.

Bridges

A bridge is similar to a crown in the material and how its prepared and placed. The main difference from a crown is that a bridge is used to help replace missing teeth. A bridge is usually two crowns that hold on to a “dummy” tooth in the middle. This “dummy” tooth sits right on top of the gums to appear as natural as possible. Often a bridge is an alternative treatment for implants.

The Mint Method

Crowns and Bridges can be made from a variety of materials each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Our office believes in a metal-free practice. We offer all porcelain or zirconium material crowns and bridges. There are no metal, or metal-fused parts. This also makes the crown or bridge look like natural teeth, with similar tooth-color and translucency. They are extremely durable and are strong enough to withstand wear and tear.
